Politics and Humor…but I repeat myself

07′ is here, Swing State predicts the future, Giuliani campaign suffers big blow, Romney set to announce.

Greetings and Happy New Year!!!  The Sooth Sayers here atSwing State are predicting an eventful year ahead as the Race for 2008 swings into full gear.  Stay logged on for more of our earth shattering, Nostradomus like predictions in the weeks and months to come.

Already in the news as 2007 says hello is a serious blunder from Team Giuliani.  Apparently 140 pages of Giuliani’s campaign plan were either leaked to the media or carelessly misplaced.

Here is that article from the New York Times.

According to the article “The remarkably detailed dossier sets out the budgets, schedules and fund-raising plans that will underpin the former New York mayor’s presidential campaign – as well as his aides’ worries that personal and political baggage could scuttle his run.”

Apart from the already foiled fundraising hopes of the campaign, due to the securementof some of Giuliani’s key targets by likely competition John McCain and Mitt Romney, (See Eye for 08’s take on the matter) the leaked campaign plan further hurts Giuliani in many other ways.

Some embarrassing, and potentially very damaging segments of the document, highlight the campaigns own concerns over aspects of Giuliani’s personal life that might hinder his candidacy, or as the papers themselves say, cause him to” drop out of [the] race.”

The papers site  “a list of the candidate’s central problems in bullet-point form: his private sector business; disgraced former aide Bernard Kerik; his third wife, Judith Nathan Giuliani; “social issues,” on which is he is more liberal than most Republicans, and his former wife Donna Hanover.”

With these documents now in play, and with the campaigns own admissions to potential problems in these areas, it will most likely be very difficult to fend off criticism on these issues should any arise.

In other 08’ news Mass. Governor Mitt Romney looks to be ready to announce his candidacy very soon.  Read the article here.
